The Good News: Marijuana wins several more states. Pence isn't Cheney.

Well that just happened.

Good News:

  • Mike Pence isn't Dick Cheney. Although, he considers Cheney a role model, Pence doesn't have deep ties to Big Oil, the CIA, or Halliburton or other companies that made billions on the Iraq War. (Pense wiki)
  • Medical and Recreational Marijuana won in several states,  which means $ billions taken away from drug cartels, millions of American won't have their freedom taken from them for a nonviolent drug offense, and $ billions in new tax revenue for the respective states (mashable).

Bad Things I doubt will happen:

  • Shutting off immigration isn't likely.  The new First Lady, at least, is an immigrant from Eastern Europe.  (Melania Trump wiki) weak argument but I'm hopeful.
  • Marriage Equality and Bathroom law (whatever that issue is called) won't be overturned. Peter Thiel the biggest tech celebrity supporting Trump's campaign with $1.25 million helped make Gay Republican a recognized thing at the Republican National Convention. (youtube)

Bad Things I expect will happen:
There's no Democrat-dominated Congress to keep Trump in check so:
  • Obamacare is probably going to be repealed and millions of Americans will probably suffer.  It definitely needs improvement but a Republican dominated House, Senate, and White House will likely trash it and kick millions off of health care.
  • Trickle Down Theory will probably rear it's stupid expensive head again and add billions more to the deficit with tax breaks for the 1%.  If anyone is paying attention, you should also notice that the things rich people buy like stocks and bonds, exotic cars have inflated prices as well. The Price to Sale Ratio of S&P 500 is now higher than it was at the pre-9/11 peak. (chart
  • All of the rural counties that voted for Trump, won't likely get anything they were hoping for under the slogan "Make America Great Again".  Their best shot at an improved local economy is what Hillary and Bernie were championing with revitalizing infrastructure. Hopefully Trump will actually move forward on that promise.

Explaining the Financial Crisis and the Bailout

Pat Dorsey is a pretty smart guy, Director of Equity Research at Morningstar. He explains why the bailout is a safety net for Main Street not a bailout for Wall Street. I understand this I just wish there was a better alternative like getting loans from www.prosper.com. Unfortunately Prosper.com only allows loans of $25,000 which just isn't enough for a lot of companies. Maybe Prosper will expand soon to ease the short term credit crisis. Well here's Pat Dorsey's take on the credit crisis:

Praise Reports: Thanks to an anonymous donation my financial support is up to $600 now! Thank you Mr/Ms Anonymous! A childhood friend of mine contacted me out of the blue to let me know he's in Orlando, too.  I haven't seen him since 1997 so hopefully we can get reaquainted next weekend.  He Googled my name and found my address.  God Bless the Internet! The first two groups of students got back from their trips to Key West and Brazil this past Friday.  Seeing how much these young people have matured spiritually gives me more confirmation that I'm in the right place.  I can see the changes in attitude towards their faith and increased priority to follow Christ and it makes the 14 hour days worth the effort. Also Getting 90 minutes a day of prayer and reading is a lot easier than I thought it would be with our 14 hour days.  Being in a community that supports that kind of thing is so awesome! I'm reading a great book called "Intercession: Thrilling ...
