Tech Wishlist: make iMessage complete.

Dear God and Apple, Make iMessage support mms and sms to any phone number not just iOS users. If it's a landline then intercept the error message; convert the message to a voicemail plus a spoken url  where any picture or video can be viewed. Right now I have to jump between iMessage and Google Voice. ugh.

Technology wishlist

Fully Integrated Google. All Google Apps and Google Cloud Offerings worked together seemlessly.  I built a solution to make configuration data in Google Spreadsheets feed into app engine.  I hired a programmer to modify a existing third party python library to pull data from G Sheets.  How is this lib not already published by Google directly? plate@car.gov All car license plates had an email address, so people could warn you before the tow truck, if you parked the car in a bad place. If you’re license is ABH-2342 then your email alias would be ABH-2342@car.gov .  And everyone would just know that. Public problem app.  I wish there was an app to report problems and crimes to relevant government agencies.  It would include some automatic reporting, e.g. your phone automatically reports a pothole when you hit one while driving.  The driver won’t need to pull over and manually report.  The smartphone would just know that a sudden jolt along a road means pothole and report it.

Rant: I hate Google Cloud but I don't want to.

I just wasted 3 hours trying to get Google Cloud SQL to work.  After digging through docs and support forums I couldn't set up IPv6 access to my sql instance. This isn't the first time I've wasted tremendous time getting such a basic access feature to work.  I went through a nearly  parallel issue with Google Compute Engine.  It took over a week to get the answers I needed to get a network access working for Google Compute Engine. I have a problem and I admit it. :  I know Google Cloud will eventually dominate.  I can't help myself from trying to use the inevitable technological leader in the cloud wars, but damn give me back all the money and months I wasted learning these platforms.  If I could just turn off my engineering supremacy OCD ... just get prototypes working on traditional boring crappy tech,  I'd have way more streams of income by now and hate my tech life far less. Speaking of money:  There's still no clearcut way to cap monthly spend on Goog

Reza Aslan Presentation: Good historical context of Jesus of Nazareth.

I just finished watching Reza Aslan presenting at the Aspen Institute.   He's well spoken.  He does a good job of explaining the difference between historical Jesus and how Jesus has been redefined in almost every culture on Earth including American Christianity.  I don't know how to factcheck everything he said since I don't speak Greek, Hebrew, or Aramaic.  He's definitely well studied on Jesus and is a fan of Jesus.  None of his presentation though sounds like he's had personal encounter with the living Jesus, or believes the historical account of all the miracles Jesus performed, including His resurrection. His presentation strikes me for three reasons: I just drank a really strong cup of coffee.  Reza had some kind of God encounter when he was a teenager in an Evangelical Christian setting and went back to Islam a few years later.  Reza strongly pointed out how much Jesus' wasn't from a family of political influence.  He was from a village so smal

A Day in the Life of Darian Awesomeness

I wrote this up almost a year ago while meeting with a career coach ... more like a life goals coach. It's all still true:... Wake up, have sex with my smoking hot wife. Enjoy breakfast, probably some sprouted wheat toast from trader joe’s with fresh cut strawberries and cream cheese on top, and cup of the latest fair trade coffee made in a french press. Head to the lab in a Tesla Model S P85D ( short commute ) . Check in on engineer friends designing a hydroponic semi-automated farm that will help millions of families grow $400 of food a month with less than 3 hours of effort. Clear up any roadblocks with development. Celebrate some breakthroughs. Lunch: some recipe designed by one of the food engineers with our farm that optimizes protein produced per acre. Head to movie set and see how production is going on a historical fiction film based on the life of William Branham. Shoot my scene. Talk with director and producers and clear up any roadblocks. Go to a house chur
