End of Year 2005

Lessons Learned in 2005 There's a huge chasm between what I'm capable of doing and what I'm capable of enjoying. Doing a boring passionless career in the name of Financial Responsibility is a bad idea. Knowing the daily routine of a mission is more important than knowing the ideals of a mission. Healthy dating requires a lot more motivation than just basic attraction and curiosity. Communal living with likeminded Christians is the best! Big Events of 2005 January-Met up with Chris Henley after several years of never seeing him. He survived jousting by a log truck. February-Went to Norway for Cold Weather Training with the Marine Corps Reserves. Bitter cold and very boring. Just confirmed the notion that I shouldn't rely on the government for excitement or adventure. March-Fasted three days before Easter asking God when to go into fulltime missions. April 5th-Got fired from my job and opened the door to fulltime missions. Finally I could take

Shedding My Old Paradigm of God

Hello Peeps, I miss my old paradigm.  Let me explain.  All throughout my high school years I thought of God as an abstract force pervading the universe somehow tightly coupled with the dynamic of love.  I assumed from the beginning of my spiritual journey that it was all about becoming attuned to this universal force of love.  I pursued Jesus like he was the Zen master of Love and that I could become more skillful at using this power called God.  I wanted to be a Jesus Jedi.  My paradigm is shifting now though.  It kinda sucks but I know it's for the better.  This last week I spent learning about the Holy Spirit and learning to obey the voice of the Holy Spirit and accepting His presence in our souls.  God is not an abstract force that we learn to use like in Star Wars.  He's a person with feelings and perfect wisdom and insight, He's not looking for us to excel in the ways of his force.  He's looking for us to obey His voice.  It's really kinda scary.  Surrendering

The YWAM VA Experience

Before Che Guevara hooked up with Fidel Castro to start the revolution in Cuba, he used his training in medicine as a ticket to travel all over Latin America offering help wherever he went and build relationships across the continent. I am finding out my ticket to travel the world and serve is computers. Serving YWAM VA as resident computer geek has been an awesome excuse to build relationships with YWAM missionaries, and learn more about what God is putting on people's hearts to do for His kingdom. Several ywamer's here ( Monica , Kay, and Mike) are answering the call to mend a very damaged relationship between Jews and Christians. After a couple millenia of organized Christianity committing atrocities against the Jewish people there is now a new flood of Jews discovering Jesus. Christians are finally treating Jews in a Christ-like manner and they are responding by embracing Jesus as their Messiah. The Jewish World Office Ywamers here are pretty excited to see the number of M

I just sent in my visa application for Brazil.

After finally getting all the documents together, I sent everything to the Brazilian Embassy in DC yesterday. Wow that only took 5 months! It's still awhile before I get my visa, though, five weeks at the earliest. All the documents I already pulled together are just the beginning. They Embassy could come back to me saying they want a whole lot more than what's listed on the site. So please pray they'll be content with what I sent already and send me a visa. Also be praying God will give me insight on what he wants me to do with my November and December. I need to decide this week on whether to continue volunteering here at YWAM in Richmond or go visit churches or go get a paying job. That's just a short list, so hopefully prayer will narrow it down soon.
